FAQs

Q?

1. Why does the organic virgin oil cost more?

A.

All the olive oil is grown in soil that is in the process of being certified as organic (a process that takes two years or so). For the certification process itself there are fees and this can contribute to the marginally higher costs when labelled organic (about a £1 difference in price).

Q?

2. Why are the dates different sizes?

A.

There are several varieties of dates and these then differ in sizes, texture, colour and taste too. Some can be firm tight skinned and others can be soft and succulent- like a fresh fruit. This can vary from year to year, depending on the climate, yield in any given year and required stocks.

8. What are your refund policies?

A.

Please click onto this link for information Refund Policy

Q?

9. Can I order now and pay later?

A.

Unfortunately, this is not an option. The money for the products- especially the medjoul dates- is needed to pay the farmers in full thereby securing the best prices, with least risk to the farmers. We are not a not-for-profit organisation working on minimal margins, therefore we do not have a sufficient cash-flow to pay more than a holding deposit on behalf of our customers. In effect, when you pay this facilitates the most direct form of trade.

Q?

10. Does 100% of the profit go to the farmers?

A.

No, this is not practical. Although we practise fair trade which gives a larger portion to the farmers; there are many costs to the process of producing and importing good quality products to the UK. The directors of our organisation do not take shares from any profits and if there is a profit, this is 100% re-invested back into this project.

Q?

11. Why is the cost high?

A.

We try our best to keep the cost of the dates and other products down. However this needs to be done without disadvantaging our farmers. The taxes imposed by the Israeli borders during export is among other things which keeps the cost price high, especially for olive oil.

Q?

12. What is the early bird offer about?

A.

We are able to secure an “Early Bird Price” by pledging to buy out stocks from the farmers well before Ramadan, thereby also granting them a guaranteed and timely payment in order for them to process the export. All the money pledged in this “offer” period then secures the bulk of the stock. After this those prices cannot be attained.

Q?

13. How soon before Ramadan will the dates arrive?

A.

For an early bird discount make sure you place your order in by 3rd February 2019!
When it’s gone, it’s gone. See below for the trading process.

Q?

14. How do I give feedback or a review?

A.

Please send your feedback and reviews to info@lets-traid.org and put ‘feedback’ in your heading. This will reduce the waiting time for a response. Thank you!

Q?

15. Do you wash the dates before eating?

A.

This is entirely up to you. It taste lovely whichever way you decide to eat it, washed or not.

Q?

16. Are the Palestinian medjoul dates organic?

A.

Absolutely no chemical fertilisers were used during the growth or processing of the dates. This is because Israel does not permit chemical fertilisers or pesticides into the Palestine’s lands,  for it. This means, your dates are completely organic - even though they may not have the certification. The process of certification is rigorous and too costly for the Palestinian farmers who have other challenges on their hand.

Q?

17. What if I need to talk to a staff about something urgent?

A.

Please send us an email with your contact number. We will respond to your enquiry within two working days.
